Yves Decaudan - L"heure rose

Painting titled "The Rose Hour" - 2026 The painting represents a coastal landscape at twilight, a band of dark green land topped by a path or a sandy yellow area, bordered on the left by a bright red block. A pale green grassy area and a blue zone suggesting water or a shadow, from which rise the dark trunks of several parasol pines. A stretch of blue water under a sky graded from powdered pink to deep violet. Each form is firmly defined by a thick black outline, which structures the space without resorting to classical modelling or realistic shadows. The tones are applied uniformly in flat, pure fields without subtle gradations, creating a strong contrast between the warm yellow, red and the cool blue, pink, green. Traditional perspective is simplified in favor of a superposition of horizontal and vertical planes—the tree trunks—giving a decorative two-dimensional look. The work belongs to post-impressionist movements. The arbitrary or expressive use of color—the pink sky, the blue trees—favors sensation and emotion in the landscape over photographic reproduction. Painting by the Breton artist Yves Decaudan - 1954 Yves Decaudan’s work is within a colorful figurative vein, heavily influenced by Fauvism and the Pont-Aven school, with a particular attachment to coastal scenes of Brittany. His works regularly depict moments of calm, reading, or outdoor daydreaming in a maritime or Mediterranean setting where time seems suspended. The artist’s work is characterized by expressive and poetic figuration, driven by a keen sense of color and the synthesis of forms. The artist favors planes of pure, intense color—such as this deep blue juxtaposed with bright red—creating an immediate, luminous visual tension. The elements of the decor are outlined and simplified, going to the essential without lingering on anatomical detail or strict realism, which brings his work closer to Fauvism or art poster style. His subjects, often solitary and maritime, convey an impression of stillness, serenity, or daydream suspended in time. Through backgrounds worked in texture or speckled with light touches, he establishes a poetic depth rather than a geometric one. Paintings exhibited in numerous private collections in Europe, North America, Africa, and Oceania, canvas exhibited at the Paris Autumn Salon - 2022 Delivered with certificate of authenticity, signature on the back Acrylic on cotton canvas, wooden stretcher, unframed, dimensions 80 x 60 cm Secure shipping and packaging in a picture-frame carton ‘Display visuals are AI Visualisations based on photographs of the actual object.
