Egyptian wooden figurine of a solar boat rower with Spanish Import License. Middle Kingdom (2035–1689 B.C.). 9 cm high without base. The navigator of the River of the Afterlife is depicted seated, wearing a ball-shaped wig. The arms, now missing, were originally attached to the figure. The Middle Kingdom (ca. 2035–1689 BCE) was a golden age in Ancient Egypt that began with the reunification of the country by Pharaoh Mentuhotep II in the mid-11th Dynasty. It marked the definitive flourishing of Egyptian literature and classical art, and was also notable for significant territorial expansion and ambitious infrastructure projects. PROVENANCE: Public sale, former French collection assembled between the 1930s and 1960s, acquired at French Auction House 2026. Shipping rates include insurance for the full value of the item.
