Kirsty Wain (XX) - Mediterranean Oranges - No Reserve

In Mediterranean Oranges, contemporary artist Kirsty Wain explores the vibrant vitality and sensory richness of the natural world. This commanding composition bypasses traditional realism in favour of a bold, expressive impressionism, capturing a sun-drenched orchard at the height of its seasonal cycle. The defining characteristic of the work is Wain’s masterful and unapologetic use of the impasto technique. Utilizing a heavy, sculptural application of oil paint, the artist builds a tactile topography across the paper. Each orange is rendered with thick, swirling crowns of pigment that catch the ambient light, giving the fruit a literal and visual weight. This rich texture contrasts dynamically with the rhythmic, stylized twists of the branches and the delicate, raised peaks of the white blossoms. Through this deliberate, physical handling of the medium, Mediterranean Oranges transcends a simple landscape, becoming a joyful, textured celebration of light, form, and abundance. Oil on professional oil painting paper, 48×68cm, Signed lower right Executed on premium, professional-grade oil painting paper. Due to the substantial, heavily textured nature of the oil paint layer, this piece is safely shipped rolled in a heavy-duty architectural tube. It requires professional framing upon receipt; mounting behind glass or pexiglass with a deep mat or a float-mount is highly recommended to properly accommodate and protect the impasto texture. Condition: Excellent / New direct from the artist’s studio. Packaging & Shipping A Certificate of Authenticity (COA) signed by Kirsty Wain will be included. Shipped with tracked and signed service. Frame not included Please note: Any images showing the artwork framed are mock-ups for illustration purposes; the painting is sold unframed. About the Artist Kirsty Wain is a British painter currently living and working in Spain. Deeply connected to the Mediterranean landscape, her work offers an expressive, emotive interpretation of the surrounding environment. Drawing strong inspiration from Post-Impressionism and the bold colour theory of Fauvism, Wain uses vibrant hues, textured application, and fluid line work to capture the intrinsic energy, spirit, and light of a location. Her paintings, frequently focused on ancient olive groves, hillside pines, and sweeping terrains—seek to translate fleeting personal moments and deep emotional ties to place directly onto the canvas. Wain’s distinct visual language continues to gain international visibility, and her paintings are held in private collections around the world. ´ I love colour. I love nature. I love art. Together, they are my language. ´ K Wain 2025 Artist Profile & Education Background: British contemporary landscape painter based in Spain, combining her artistic practice with a long-standing career in art education.
