Reliquary box - Cast brass - 1950-1960 - Mystical Amulet Wafq

Exceptional portable Qur'anic case for talismanic use, originating from the Berber tribes of the Anti-Atlas region, Morocco. Manufactured in the mid-20th century (c. 1950-1960). Heavy prism-shaped structure with a two-slope cupola lid and two sturdy lateral suspension rings. The front is richly ornamented with carved camel bone plaques, cabochons of colored glass paste in turquoise and coral tones, and rich sheets of chased alpaca with floral ataurique motifs. The element of greatest ethnographic and esoteric value is on the reverse: a hand-carved numerological magic square (Wafq / Buduh) of 3x3 cells. This mystical diagram, based on classical grimoires of Islamic occult sciences (such as Shams al-Ma'arif), operated as an active protection amulet to safeguard the bearer and the sacred texts inside. Excellent condition, preserving its natural patina and original verdigris at the joints. Hinge and closures fully functional. • Dimensions: 14 cm (Height) x 13 cm (Width) x 4 cm (Depth) • Weight: 550 grams • Shipping method: Certified shipping with its tracking number.
